Cllr Stuart Martin represents Ripon Minster Ward Ripon City Council as a Conservative councillor. Married to April they have two children and four grandchildren.
A firefighter with the Defence Fire Service since 1990 working at Dishforth Airfield, he also served 14 years as a retained firefighter in Ripon with North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service. He was honored with an MBE in the 2009/10 New Year’s Honours list for charity work locally in Ripon and in Madagascar.
Chair of Ripon Community House: Ripon Community House is a central base for charitable organisations and is available for rent by community groups.
A former Governor of Greystones CP School, where he organised the ‘Bike Ability’ for Year 5 and 6 pupils, which teaches pupils to cycle safely on roads. Also the driving force behind establishing a safe crossing outside every school in Ripon.
Twice Mayor of Ripon 2004/05 and 2005/06 and a foundation Governor at Ripon Grammar School, also a trustee of The Judson Trust.
