Curatorial advisor to Ripon Museums Trust, Bedale and Thirsk Museums and the Lawrence Sterne Trust; External Verifier for Pearson / EDI for Cultural Heritage, Customer Service, Archaeological Practice and Libraries and Information monitoring NVQs at Wordsworth’s Trust, Greenwich College, Northumberland Training Agency, Institute of Field Archaeology, York College, Leeds City Council and Lincolnshire Heritage Services. Chairman Ripon Cathedral Fabric Advisory Committee and formerly Chairman of the Sobriety Project in Goole, Director of Ripon Local Studies Research Centre and Training Officer for Yorkshire and Humber Federation of Museums and Galleries. A Ripon City Councillor since May 2003 and Chairman of Greater Ripon Improvement Partnership. He was elected Mayor of Ripon on 12 May 2011, for a second term on 7 May 2013 and for a third term on 6 May 2014.
